AI-Powered Insolvency Anomaly Detection System

The Debtor Detection Anomaly System is an artificial intelligence tool used by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada to identify unusual patterns and anomalies in bankruptcy and insolvency filings submitted to the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy. The system uses unsupervised machine learning to flag high-risk cases for further manual review by government analysts, helping to protect the integrity of Canada's insolvency system.

This system supports human decision-making rather than making automated decisions on its own. It complements existing oversight processes including manual selection, random compliance reviews, and referrals from Licensed Insolvency Trustees. Analysts use the system's insights to improve risk-based oversight and better allocate resources to cases that may require closer examination.

The system is currently in production and is used by Government of Canada employees. It does not process personal information and serves as a tool to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of insolvency compliance monitoring.
