AI-Powered Name Content Screening System

ISCAN is an internal artificial intelligence tool developed by Corporations Canada to assist in reviewing name filings for Individuals with Significant Control (ISC). The system uses machine learning and natural language processing to automatically identify names that may be potentially inappropriate, non-genuine, or offensive, flagging them for human review by staff members. This helps improve operational efficiency and maintain data integrity in the ISC registry.

The system is currently in development and involves processing of personal information. It is used by Government of Canada employees and does not make final administrative decisions—all flagged cases are reviewed and validated by human staff before any action is taken. This ensures that the system serves as a screening tool to support decision-making rather than replacing human judgment.
