Global Affairs Canada uses an AI-powered tool to help assess international assistance projects against Canada's policy objectives. The system analyzes project summaries and automatically assigns relevant policy markers—labels that indicate alignment with specific policy areas such as climate action, gender equality, or sustainable development. This automation helps GAC staff evaluate projects more efficiently while maintaining accuracy comparable to expert assessments.
The tool uses generative AI technology trained on the knowledge of experienced evaluators and GAC's assessment frameworks. When you enter a project description, the system analyzes it and suggests the most relevant policy markers, along with explanations for its recommendations. This allows expert staff to review and validate the AI's suggestions before finalizing assessments.
