AI-Powered Materials Discovery for Clean Energy
This artificial intelligence system helps researchers discover and synthesize novel perovskite materials more rapidly and efficiently than traditional trial-and-error methods. Perovskites are a class of materials with important applications in clean energy technologies and other engineering fields. The system combines generative AI for material discovery with Bayesian optimization for synthesis parameters, accelerating the research process.
Developed by the National Research Council Canada in collaboration with the University of Ottawa as part of the AI for Design Challenge Program, this system is currently in development. The system uses only public datasets and does not involve the processing of personal information. Primary users include Government of Canada employees conducting materials research and development.
This transparency page provides information about how the system works, the data it processes, and the decisions it supports in the research pipeline.
