Intelligent Code Translation for Government
CodeBridge is an AI-assisted code translation system developed by the Government of Canada and operated by Statistics Canada. The system is designed to help Government of Canada employees automatically convert and translate small code scripts, along with their associated metadata and supporting documentation, from one programming language or format to another.
The system is currently in production and uses artificial intelligence to analyze existing code and generate equivalent code in target formats. This automation reduces manual effort and improves consistency when modernizing legacy systems or standardizing code across the organization. CodeBridge does not process personal information—it works exclusively with code and technical documentation.
As a government AI system, CodeBridge is subject to transparency and accountability requirements. The system has been registered in the Government of Canada's AI inventory and is being made available for public awareness.
