The Adaptation of Canchat is a generative AI system currently in development by Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC). This system adapts the Canchat platform to meet the specific needs of the department, including the integration of departmental knowledge repositories, customized models, and sector-specific use cases. The system is designed to support Government of Canada employees in their daily work by providing intelligent conversational AI capabilities.
This AI system does not involve the collection or processing of personal information about members of the public. It is intended for internal use by GC employees to enhance productivity and access to departmental knowledge. As an in-development system, it continues to be refined and adapted to ensure it meets departmental requirements and maintains appropriate safeguards for government operations.
Government of Canada remains accountable for the deployment and use of this system, ensuring that it operates in accordance with federal AI governance requirements and maintains transparency about its capabilities and limitations.
