Automated Compliance Checking for Census Publications
Sphinx is an artificial intelligence tool developed by Statistics Canada to automatically check census publication documents for compliance with government standards. The system uses advanced language processing to review both text and images, identifying formatting issues, inconsistencies, and other standards violations that require human attention.
The tool is designed to help Government of Canada employees who prepare and review census publications. By automatically flagging compliance issues, Sphinx allows human reviewers to focus their time on evaluating content quality rather than verifying technical standards. This system does not involve personal information and is currently in development.
The system processes draft publications written in French or English and provides structured feedback to help ensure consistent adherence to StatCan's publishing standards across all census-related documents.
