AI-Powered Spaceflight Medical Decision Support
The Connected Care Medical Module is a clinical decision support system developed for the Canadian Space Agency to assist with medical decisions during spaceflight operations. This AI system uses speech-to-text technology, machine learning, and generative AI to analyze health data and provide recommendations to medical professionals in space environments. The system is currently in development and will be used primarily by Government of Canada employees.
This system processes personal health information from deidentified health databases and datasets. It uses advanced AI processing techniques including large language models and machine learning algorithms to analyze medical data and generate clinical insights. The system is designed to support human medical decision-making rather than replace it, with the goal of improving care quality in the unique environment of spaceflight.
The system involves the processing of personal health information and has been flagged for AI notification requirements. It is being developed in partnership with external vendors including Lunar Medical Inc, Paratus Medical, and Baune. The system has been assigned the identification number 2526-CSA-ASC-005 in the Government of Canada AI registry.
