AI-Powered Procurement Document Processing System
The Defence Procurement Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) system is an artificial intelligence tool currently in development by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) to automate the processing of government procurement documents. The system automatically extracts, classifies, and validates data from procurement documents such as Requests for Proposals, bids, contracts, and Statements of Work, significantly reducing the time and effort required for manual data entry and analysis.
This system affects Government of Canada employees who work in procurement by streamlining their workflow and improving the accuracy of compliance checking. The IDP system uses document classification, optical character recognition (OCR), entity extraction, and validation against established rules and schemas to process documents efficiently. The system is powered by Microsoft technology and integrates with existing procurement workflows through dashboard interfaces.
Important transparency information: This pilot does not collect or process personal information about individuals. It is designed to work only with procurement-related documents and metadata. As this system is still in development, PSPC is committed to ensuring it meets all government standards for accuracy, compliance, and responsible AI deployment before full implementation.
