AI System for Human Trafficking Investigation Support
Traffic Jam is an AI-powered investigation support system deployed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to help locate and identify exploited individuals in cases of human trafficking, missing persons, and child sexual exploitation. The system uses image and object recognition technology along with advanced text search capabilities to process open source information.
The system is currently in production and is used by Government of Canada employees involved in investigative work. While the platform includes facial recognition technology, this functionality has been disabled by the vendor for RCMP users and is not currently in use. The system processes personal information as part of its investigative function.
This transparency page provides information about how the system operates, what data it uses, what decisions it supports, and what safeguards are in place to protect individuals' rights.
