AI-Powered Translation for Parliament
The Parliamentary Machine Translation System is a neural machine translation tool developed by the National Research Council Canada's Digital Technologies Research Centre in collaboration with the Translation Bureau. The system is designed to assist House of Commons and Senate translators by providing domain-specific machine translation capabilities for parliamentary documents and communications.
This system is currently in production and is used by Government of Canada employees who work as parliamentary translators. It does not process personal information. The system learns from historical translations produced by human translators, allowing it to understand and replicate the specialized terminology and translation conventions used in parliamentary contexts.
As a government AI system deployed in a transparent manner, this tool represents Canada's commitment to modernizing parliamentary translation services while maintaining the high standards required for official legislative proceedings.
