Speech Recognition and Text-to-Speech for Workplace Accessibility
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) uses Dragon Naturally Speaking software to provide workplace accessibility accommodations for employees with disabilities. This system enables individuals to convert spoken words into text (speech-to-text) and written text into spoken audio (text-to-speech), allowing them to perform their work duties more effectively.
The system processes work-related information communicated by employees and is currently in production use. Primary users are Government of Canada employees who require accessibility accommodations. Please note: This system processes personal information as part of its operation, as it must recognize and process individual speech patterns to function effectively.
The software is developed and maintained by Nuance Communications Inc., a third-party vendor. Employees should be aware that their voice and work-related communications are being processed by this technology to enable their workplace accommodations.
