AI-Powered Audio Transcription and Translation

The Voice2Text application is an AI-powered system developed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to assist in the transcription and translation of audio files collected during investigations. The system uses OpenAI's open-source Whisper speech recognition model to convert spoken audio into text, helping investigators process and analyze audio evidence more efficiently.

This system processes personal information, including voices and speech content from lawfully obtained audio recordings. The application is currently in production and is used by Government of Canada employees involved in investigative work. When using this system, individuals should understand that their audio may be transcribed and analyzed by AI technology, and they have rights regarding how their personal information is handled and used.
