AI Chatbot for Information Management Support
The IM Chatbot is an artificial intelligence system currently in development by Fisheries and Oceans Canada to help Government of Canada employees find answers to questions about information management practices and policies. The system uses a Large Language Model to understand employee questions and provide relevant responses based on information available on the IM intranet site.
This system is designed to improve access to information management guidance and reduce the burden on information management staff by providing quick, automated responses to common questions. The chatbot does not process personal information and is intended solely to support internal government operations.
As this system is still in development, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is committed to transparency about how it works and invites feedback from government employees who interact with it. The system is registered in Canada's AI Register under identifier 2526-DFO-MPO-004.
