AI-Powered Legal Research and Drafting Tool

Lexis+ AI is a pilot project currently in development by the Department of Justice Canada, in partnership with LexisNexis. This AI-powered legal research platform enhances the Lexis+ subscription service by adding an intelligent research assistant and advanced capabilities for legal document drafting, summarization, and analysis. The system builds on a foundation of existing proprietary legal publications and datasets, including case law and legislation.

The system is designed for use by Government of Canada employees who need advanced legal research and document preparation tools. Lexis+ AI uses generative AI technology to provide personalized assistance in analyzing legal content, drafting documents, and summarizing complex legal materials. This pilot phase allows the Department of Justice to evaluate the system's effectiveness and ensure it meets the needs of legal professionals across government.

Important to note: This system does not involve the processing of personal information about citizens or the public. It operates exclusively on legal content and research materials to support government legal work. All users are GC employees with appropriate authorization to access legal research tools.
