AI-Powered Scientific Literature Review for Pesticide Assessment
Science-GPT is an AI tool developed by Health Canada to help scientists review pesticide safety information more efficiently. The system uses advanced language models and retrieval technology to summarize and organize scientific literature, including published studies and grey literature, to support chemical assessment decisions at the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA).
The system is designed to assist Government of Canada employees who work on pesticide reviews by quickly finding relevant information, extracting key data, and summarizing findings from large volumes of scientific documents. This helps reduce the time needed to complete chemical assessments while maintaining scientific rigor.
Science-GPT is currently in development and does not process personal information. The tool is being built and tested with subject matter experts to ensure it produces accurate, reliable results and to build internal capacity within Health Canada on AI applications in scientific research.
