Accelerating Scientific Discovery Through AI
The National Research Council Canada, in collaboration with Mila, McGill University, and SickKids, has developed an AI system to accelerate the discovery of molecules for healthcare, clean energy, and environmental applications. The system uses artificial intelligence to rapidly analyze large datasets and candidate molecules to identify the most promising compounds, significantly reducing both time and costs compared to traditional discovery methods.
This AI system is currently in development and is primarily used by Government of Canada employees involved in scientific research. The system does not process personal information about individuals. Instead, it focuses entirely on analyzing molecular data, chemical properties, and scientific research datasets to support discoveries in healthcare applications, green energy materials, battery technology for electric vehicles, and carbon capture and storage innovations.
