AI-Powered Chatbot for Benefits Administration
AssistMe is an AI-powered chatbot deployed by Employment and Social Development Canada to help government employees quickly access and gather information related to Old Age Security (OAS) benefit administration. The system integrates with the Cúram case management platform to provide real-time answers to employee queries about OAS policies, guidelines, and eligibility criteria, along with relevant links to training materials and knowledge articles.
This system is currently in production and is used exclusively by Government of Canada employees working in the Benefits Delivery Modernization program. It enhances staff efficiency by serving as an AI-assisted co-pilot that helps front-line workers navigate complex benefit policies and procedures. The system does not collect or process personal information about citizens; it is designed solely to support internal government operations.
Employees using this system should understand that their interactions with AssistMe are supported by generative AI technology that draws from program knowledge articles, policies, procedures, and Cúram system documentation. The system was developed by external vendors (Deloitte and Accenture) on behalf of the department.
