AI-Powered Video Search and Face Matching

BriefCam is an artificial intelligence system used by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to assist in searching and analyzing lawfully obtained surveillance video recordings. The system uses advanced video analytics to help officers quickly review lengthy video files by automatically detecting and tracking vehicles, movements, and persons of interest within the footage.

When law enforcement personnel identify a person of interest in surveillance video, BriefCam's Face Matching capability—a type of facial recognition technology—can help locate other occurrences of that same person throughout the video. It is important to note that Face Matching works only within the video being analyzed and cannot directly identify individuals by comparing their faces to external identification databases. The system is currently in production and is used by RCMP employees. This AI system processes personal information and has been notified to relevant oversight authorities.
