AI-Powered Trademark Application Analysis System
Onscope is an artificial intelligence system used by Government of Canada employees to assist with trademark examination. The system uses advanced AI technologies including natural language processing, optical character recognition, and image recognition to compare newly-filed trademark applications against existing Canadian trademark registrations and applications. By automating parts of the comparison and analysis process, Onscope helps trademark examiners work more efficiently and consistently when determining whether new trademark applications meet the requirements for registration. The system is currently in production and has been operational since 2001. This system does not involve the collection or processing of personal information about individuals. The primary users are Government of Canada employees responsible for trademark examination.
