AI-Powered Geospatial Data Search

GEO.CA Semantic Search Engine is an artificial intelligence system that helps users discover Canada's geospatial data more effectively. The system uses advanced natural language processing and machine learning to understand what users are looking for, not just the exact words they type. This means you can search for geospatial information in a more natural way, and the system will understand the context and intent behind your search query.

The system searches across the largest collection of Canadian geospatial data available—datasets from federal, provincial, and territorial governments consolidated in one location. The semantic search feature significantly improves search accuracy and user experience on the GEO.CA platform by understanding the meaning behind search terms rather than just matching keywords.

This system is currently in production and is used by members of the public who access the GEO.CA portal. The system does not process personal information—it only analyzes search queries to help deliver better geospatial data results. Natural Resources Canada is accountable for this system's development and deployment.
