AI-Powered Plant Disease Detection

The Powdery Mildew Detection System is an artificial intelligence application currently in development by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. This web-based tool uses computer vision and machine learning to help farmers, gardeners, and agricultural professionals accurately identify powdery mildew—a common fungal disease that reduces crop quality and yield. The system analyzes images of plants to detect disease symptoms and provides actionable recommendations for disease management.

The system processes plant images using AI-powered image recognition technology trained on scientific research and visual examples of diseased plants. Currently in development, the system is being designed to be accessible and user-friendly for Government of Canada employees and agricultural professionals who need reliable disease identification tools.

This AI system does not collect or process personal information about individuals. The system focuses exclusively on analyzing plant images to detect disease presence and severity, helping users make informed decisions about agricultural management and disease treatment strategies.
