AI-Powered Public Opinion Research Analysis

This system analyzes public opinion research responses using artificial intelligence to improve the speed and consistency of qualitative analysis. Developed by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, it applies advanced natural language processing and large language models to understand patterns and themes in structured and semi-structured research data, including responses from Library and Archives Canada studies.

The system is currently in development as a pilot project. It is designed for use by Government of Canada employees who conduct public opinion research and analysis. The system does not involve the processing of personal information about individuals—it focuses on analyzing aggregate research responses to extract insights and themes that support government decision-making.

This AI system helps reduce the resource-intensive manual work traditionally required for qualitative analysis, allowing analysts to work more efficiently while maintaining high-quality, consistent results. By automating routine analytical tasks, the system frees up human analysts to focus on interpretation, validation, and ensuring findings are accurately contextualized for policy development.
