AI-Powered MEMS Actuator Design Optimization

This system uses artificial intelligence to design and optimize electromagnetic actuators for deformable mirrors used in optical communications and astronomical observations. The AI algorithm, called Surrogate-Assisted Multi-Objective Optimization, helps engineers find better design solutions even when they have limited data from simulations and prototype testing. The system is currently in production and is used by Government of Canada employees.

The system does not collect or process personal information about individuals. Instead, it works with technical simulation data generated from COMSOL to improve the performance of optical devices that compensate for atmospheric turbulence. This AI approach demonstrates how machine learning can accelerate the engineering design process for complex micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) devices, including electromagnetic, electrostatic, and thermal applications.
