Lumi is an AI-powered learning content generation system used by the Canada School of Public Service to enhance educational experiences for Government of Canada employees. The system automatically generates learning materials including quizzes, practice questions, assignments, and instructional design content within the Brightspace learning management platform. This system is currently in production and is developed by the vendor D2L.
The system works by analyzing course content stored in Brightspace to create tailored educational materials that improve learner engagement and assessment capabilities. Employees interact with this system as learners when they encounter AI-generated quizzes and practice questions within their training courses.
Importantly, this system does not process personal information about individuals. The AI focuses on generating educational content based on course materials rather than analyzing personal learner data. All users have been notified of the system's presence and capabilities.
