The Canada Revenue Agency has developed an automated subtitling system that transcribes audio and video content, translates transcripts and subtitles, and creates redubbed versions of media. This AI system is currently in development and is designed to streamline the manual transcription process while supporting both official languages.
This system is primarily used by Government of Canada employees and does not involve the collection or processing of personal information. The system leverages over 30,000 CRA and Government of Canada terms from the Terminology Database to ensure accurate, contextually appropriate translations and transcriptions across both English and French.
The automated subtitling system uses open-source technology and machine learning to reduce the time and labor required for transcription and translation tasks. As this system is still in development, the Canada Revenue Agency continues to refine its capabilities and integration with existing IT support processes.
