AI-Powered Transparency Register Generation
Clarable Import AI is the system that built this register. It reads the Government of Canada's Algorithmic Impact Assessments — detailed compliance documents that federal departments publish about their AI systems — and converts them into the structured, browsable transparency pages you see here.
For each AI system, Clarable sends the original assessment document to Claude, a large language model by Anthropic, along with the complete DTPR taxonomy of transparency elements. Claude analyzes the document, identifies relevant purposes, decision types, data practices, rights, and risks, and generates bilingual (English/French) descriptions written in plain language for public audiences.
Every element on every algorithm page includes a confidence rating and references to the specific passages in the source document that support it. This means you can trace any claim back to the government's own documentation. The system is a prototype demonstrating that AI can help scale transparency — turning hundreds of dense regulatory documents into an accessible public register.
